Square Hand Cup

A square ceramic cup signed Black River.

The body is compact and slightly architectural, but still made to be held. Its outer surface is matte, fine, and quiet to the touch. Small glazed areas appear on the sides like pieces of tile, light, or colour placed onto a wall.

Each cup in this series is different. On this one, the lines and blocks do not decorate the surface as much as interrupt it — giving the cup a small rhythm when it turns in the hand.

It can be used for tea, coffee, or any warm drink. When touched, it gives a subtle sound, perhaps from the thickness of the ceramic body and the way the surface has been finished.

A small structure for drinking.
