Description
Origin: Ximeng Yunnan China
Elevation: ~1800m
Harvest: Spring
Voldemort is a black tea from Ximeng, Yunnan, made from Ruanzhi Oolong, a Taiwanese cultivar known for its aromatic character. Grown in forested mountains at around 1800 metres, the tea carries a vivid floral and fruity profile. Unlike the sun-dried black teas more commonly associated with Yunnan, this tea is finished with a Fujian-style roast. The roast softens the brighter fruit and flower notes, adding sweetness, body, and a more rounded structure. In the cup, floral notes, ripe fruit and honeyed sweetness unfold together. A light astringency keeps the tea alive, giving it tension rather than heaviness. It is not a typical Yunnan black tea, but one shaped by a Taiwanese cultivar, Yunnan mountain forest, and Fujian craft — bright, generous, and a little untamed.
